We are embarking on something very hard and somewhat crazy to raise some awareness to help out a very old, historic boat. Follow along, watch us suffer, and maybe even contribute to the cause! All funds will go into a big project to help restore Argonaut II this coming fall…

What are we getting ourselves into?!

Team “Chapped Sterns”

Three friends, 70 miles, and a wood rowboat.

Sacrificing our sanity and bums to fundraise for the ongoing restoration of Argonaut II.

  • Dorin Ellis

  • Morgan Jones

  • Nicholas Verrochi

Suggested Donation amounts:

  • $1 Per Mile (that’s $70 if we row straight!)

  • $210 is $1 Per Mile Per Team Member. Really shows that you support all three.

  • For Argonaut’s starboard side repair, $20 buys about a dozen fasteners (we’ll need several thousand of them), $75 is about 1 hour of labor (Argonaut needs several thousand of those, too). A plank costs about $1200/ea. and I’ll carve your initials into it before we fasten it to the frame.

*Truly, any amount will fuel our motivation. Your contribution will make its way to fund a major haul out restoration project for Argonaut II taking place Fall 2025. Of course, you’ll be able to follow along on YouTube to see where your money went.

What is the seventy48?

A seventy-mile human-powered overnight open-water adventure race from Tacoma to Port Townsend. The seventy48 is hosted by the Northwest Maritime Center and kicks off June 6th. More than 70 teams will fight the elements on rowboats, kayaks, paddle boards, and homemade human-powered contraptions to see if they can finish such a grueling 48-hour adventure.

Help us get there by making a contribution to the Argonaut II restoration.
